Merry Christmas from The Learning Hub

" Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree, how ever green your branches"

We have planted our own Christmas tree right in front of the

glass doors to The Learning Hub.

It doesn't have any branches, it isn't green, but it is made of trees.

Come and see if you have read any of the books we used to make the tree.

Can you guess what the book at the top is?

Thanks for visiting this year and reading all those books!

We have already started buying new books for next year!

Why not click on the Oxford Owl site on the right hand side of this page

and read e-books over the holidays - they're free!

HO, HO, HO

 and

Merry Christmas.

A Book in a Jar?

Can you figure out what the books placed in these jars are?

We've shredded very old or damaged books and placed them in jars.

Fiction books have been shredded along the sentence line so you can still read the words and figure out what book it is.

Check it out in the Learning Hub!

Room 1 and Room 13 gathered in The Learning Hub to Skype two classmates who were on holiday in Fiji.

Our two friends came up on the big screen with their parents.

Our friends told us they had been swimming, sailing on a catamaran and hunting for lizards!

The Cave

Room 3 and Room 5 made cave drawings, paintings and fossils.

They were displayed in The Cave.

      IT WAS VERY DARK!

      IT WAS VERY SCARY!!

  IT WAS VERY AWESOME!!!

First we had to put on a head torch.

You could choose a white light or a green light.

The green light was the scariest.

Then we had to crawl into the cave.

There were drawings and paintings on the walls and fossils on the ground.

When we put on the glasses the dinosaurs on the walls became 3D!

We weren't afraid!

The next week the black cave entrance was taken down so we could see all the things in the light.

We were able to play with dinosaurs on the OHP that made large shadow dinosaurs on the ceiling.

Room 5 made paper mache dinosaurs and wrote facts about them.

We were able to read all our library books about dinosaurs and fossils.

We could look at all the cave paintings.

Could you please make the cave again!

          It was AWESOME!

Van Gogh -Starry Night

Room 15 have made their own Van Gogh picture.
Each person was given a piece of paper that had the outline of their part of the picture on it.
They had to talk to the other children who bordered their paper to make sure they got the colours the same.

Then all the pieces were put together to make this beautiful picture.

Have you checked out this App?

You could take a photo of a picture you have made and turn it into a jigsaw using this App.
